Welcome to the Pinoy Systems Librarian blog

I am a Filipino librarian who deals with various information systems in Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Information Centers (GLAMICs). I’ve mostly worked in the Philippines and had previous consultation work in an international organization in Italy as well as undisclosed library and information centers in Malaysia. I’ve mostly worked on Free and Open Source Software primarily Koha Integrated Library System. I’ve also had experienced (installed, tested and used) other systems during the course of my fifteen years in the LIS profession Content Management Systems Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, Mambo, Greenstone Digital Library System, DSpace Institutional Repository, Eprints Repository Software, Archon Archival Information System, Alfresco Enterprise Content Management System and various other software that can be used in GLAMICs. I have also done various data migration from legacy systems into newer formats most especially for Koha ILS and DSpace. I am also knowledgeable with Linux systems administration mostly Debian and Ubuntu since that’s what Koha ILS loves. I am also knowledgeable with technologies for web-based systems and I am continually learning various programming/scipting languages (Perl, Php, python, javascript, etc.) that can be used for various projects in GLAMICs that I am working on. I choose WordPress for this site due to its ease of use and I just want a simple blog to showcase interesting and helpful information to fellow Filipino librarians as well as library and information professionals from the other side of the world. Finally, this site is where I will be posting tips and tricks mostly on Koha ILS, some developments I’m trying to do for the betterment of various workflows in GLAMICs especially in the Philippines and quite other musings.
